As mentioned in "Fallen", This track was created within a week of the aforementioned opener.
While "Fallen" gives an entryway to the atmosphere of the album, "Insomnia" thrusts the listener into the ensuing chaos. With a much more 'metal' take than the opener, this song exhumes more energy allowing for a catchier rhythm and - for lack of a better term - a more "headbanging" experience.
The tuning is DADGAD, commonly known as Celtic Tuning. It's made evident during the bridge of the song, where the acoustic guitar kicks in. Having access to two open strings whilst constantly maneuvering the first four allow for faster transitions and more versatile chords, all without the stress of barring or holding strings with a pinky etc..
I was influenced by more hardcore/metal core bands for this song. Artists such as Confide, Demon Hunter and Myrath.
