An opener track I released on my birthday this year. It was Intended to be the opener for my scrapped album "Embers".
I originally made this track with a 6 string guitar down tuned to drop D, however I purchased a really rad 7 string later on, and now this track is tuned to drop A. It sort of flows into the next track, "Insomnia" which I made immediately afterwards.
The artwork detailing this single was produced by my friend Shayne, an incredible talented designer. My main (and only) idea for the artwork was of a something in flames, as the track was to represent the ideas of the scrapped album.
The track sways from common songwriting techniques in that it solely follows one chord progression. In a way, this can be seen as a regression from the norm, however I believe the track should be experienced not as a song by itself, but as a build-up to the following track, thus it should not represent a sole idea, but as a prologue.
There were a few inspiring songs for this track, most notably "The Invitation" from Thousand Foot Krutch, "From the Ashes" by RED as well as the first few seconds of "Into Grey" by Forgetting the Memories.
